If you are, like me, a complete novice in making beauty products, this little gem is a must read. The ideas were great and the recipes easy to follow. Being an historical romance writer, I found the soap making recipes particularly interesting as frontier women did make their own soaps, not because they wanted to, but as a matter of necessity, oatmeal figured prominently in their ingredients, just as it did in the some of The Handcrafter's Companion recipes.
